Getting to Loutro

There no automobile road leading to Loutro so you can only get to the village on foot or by boat.
The nearest road head is at Hora Sfakion. It is located about 75 km from Chania (and Chania airport) and 155 km from Heraklion (and Heraklion airport). Once in Hora Sfakion you can take one of the regular ferryboats connecting the villages of south-west Crete or arrange for a taxi boat in Hora Sfakion,

Loutro can also be reached by ferryboat from Paleochora, Sougia and Agia Roumeli.

If you are traveling by car bear in mind that it is not possible to bring your car to Loutro. You must leave it in Hora Sfakion where there is ample free parking space.

Getting to Hora Sfakion by car, taxi or bus

Coming from the North you will need to cross to the South on a good winding road. It is only 40km from the National Road in the North of the island but it will take you

about one hour from Vrysses by car.

If you want to come by public bus there are only a few buses per day from Chania. If you were to come from Rethymnon or Heraklion you would need to get off the bus in Vrysses in order to catch a bus coming from Chania. There is also a taxi stand in Vrysses.

Getting to Loutro on foot

If you are feeling particularly courageous you can also walk to Loutro.

The walk on the coastal path from Hora Sfakion takes about 2 hours.

The walk from Anopolis descends around 650m on an ancient path and takes between one and two hours (it will very much depend on how confident you are walking down).

Finally if you were to walk from Agia Roumeli it will take you about 5 hours walking time to Loutro.
